Kearny Go Live!

PALS Plus, a northern New Jersey shared services consortium of public and academic libraries, welcomes Kearny Public Library to its network of 22 libraries, effective August 1, 2021.

The addition of Kearny Public Library highlights PALS Plus’ continued commitment to providing quality, cost-effective shared services to its member libraries and the 660,000 patrons that are served by PALS Plus libraries across Passaic, Essex, and Hudson Counties. By creating access to PALS Plus diverse and innovative selection of enriching, entertaining, and informative materials and resources, Kearny Public Library will be well-positioned to meet the community’s evolving needs and their mission: to provide equal access to information and to promote the enjoyment of reading, culture, and the pursuit of lifelong learning.

“We are so proud and excited to have the Kearny Public Library join us. As libraries continue to be the providers of content in many forms, joining PALS Plus will mean that patrons will have access to over 1.2 million items at any of our 22 libraries and close to 1 million digital ebook, audiobook, movies, music, TV shows, and more,” said Luca Manna, Executive Director of PALS Plus. “The library and the staff now have access to extended learning and a built-in network of colleagues to serve as sounding boards for new ideas, issues, and ways in which to serve the residents of Kearny. We look forward to all that the Kearny Public Library and its staff will bring to the consortium.”

“In my entire decade serving the town of Kearny, I have been striving to make the Kearny Public Library its community center” said Joshua Humphrey, Kearny’s Library Director. “What is so wonderful about this move into the PALS consortium is that we are giving our loyal patrons access to a much wider set of materials and resources. At the same time, our community itself will be growing to include so many more townships. We are thrilled to be moving in this new direction.”

In addition to nearly 100,000 materials available in both Kearny Public Library and their Branch location, Kearny Public Library card holders can now use their card at any of the 22 libraries that are part of the PALS Plus consortium, as well as request materials from other libraries and have them delivered to the Kearny Library or Branch.

PALS Plus member libraries come together to share physical collections, digital content in the form of ebooks, audiobooks, music, movies, and more.
